A downloadable slim dungeon game

SLIMDNGN is a slim ruleset, designed to be run largely from my head.

UPDATE!!! Now three documents, including a CORE rules pamphlet for the referee, 36 class sheets (plus spell lists for some classes) for players, and a designer's commentary, with art by HODAG given the prominence it deserves!

It's designed for compatibility with most fantasy roleplaying modules, including those for Old School Essentials. I designed it largely so that I could playtest my own modules and run other peoples, without the overhead of an entire book. It's not designed for campaign play. If you want that, check out Advanced Fantasy Dungeons, my much more maximalist ruleset.

Fans and players have called it "Elegant in its simplicity and accessibility", "Very elegant and cute", "Goldmine for great design ideas", "Packs a lot of punch into a one-pager!", and "A truly great OSR pamphlet system".

SLIMDNGN assumes a familiarity with other fantasy roleplaying games, particularly the lineage of B/X and 1st edition AD&D. It has no spells and no bestiary. This is because common spells from these editions are freely available online, and beasts tend to be described in the modules that contain them.

It mainly draws from Many Rats on Sticks by Skerples and Blades in the Dark by John Harper, and hence is a released on a CC-BY-SA 4.0 License, and because of that, we have a generous Portuguese translation included in the package, thanks to Gran.

This is wonderful in its simplicity and accessibility. Could you share a sentence how you see positive conditions work + how you see spells work in this system?

I’d use spells straight out of B/X. Everything should convert, and they’re available for free. So, if I were to cast day “spider climb”, it just places a temp condition in your inventory called “spider climb” , and it expires two failures later (as a consequence). The limits of the tight format, sorry!

Perfect. Thanks

Really like this, very elegant and cute and I feel it's a very interesting use of the d6 as the main dice.

Excellent work. This and AFD are goldmines for great design ideas.

On page 5 there is a sentence under “Fighter” that is missing punctuation:

Whenever you win a fight against challenging foes, you impress witnesses who didn’t like you make a new reaction roll with a +2 bonus.

Thank you!
